ZBNF-Zero Budget Natural Farming

Zero-Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) is a holistic alternative to the present paradigm of high-cost chemical inputs-based agriculture. It is very effective in addressing the uncertainties of climate change.Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) is a farming practice that believes in natural growth of crops without adding any fertilizers and pesticides or any other foriegn elements. The word Zero Budget refers to the zero net cost of production of all crops (inter crops, border crops, multi crops). The inputs used for seed treatments and other inocluations are locally available in the form of cowdung and cow urine.

A ZBNF practicisng farmer has lower cost of inputs and thus has better capacity to increase the incomes. At the same time, ZBNF crops helps in retaining soil fertiliting and is climate change resilient.ZBNF is pioneered by Shri. Subhash Palekar, a Padma Shri Awardee, who is regarded as the “Father of zero budget natural farming” all over the country.

Core Principles of Zero Budget Natural Farming

2. JEEVAMRUTHA : Used to increase siol microbial activity and enhance nourishment of soil.

3. MULCHING : Cover the land from direct sunlight to prevent moisture evoporation and increase soil humus.

4. WAAPHASA : It is a process to improve soil areation via increasing soil humus and microbial growth.
